Reps Grant and Mazzochi to Host Town Hall Meeting in Oak Brook

Your Money, Your Choice: Springfield Tax and Budget Town Hall

DuPage…State Representatives Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) and Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) announced they will be hosting a town hall to discuss the controversial constitutional amendment for a new income tax proposal at the Oak Brook Library the morning of Saturday, May 4th.

“Town halls are essential to gauge public interest. This new income tax increase is the biggest piece of legislation we will vote on before this legislative season ends.  The majority is attempting to amend the tax structure laid out by the framers at the 1970 Constitutional Convention,” said Rep Grant. “There is nothing fair about a $3.4 billion tax increase on Illinois families and business. Illinois needs to get serious about finances and stability, not another tax increase.  I look forward to speaking on this issue with Representative Mazzochi.”

“The proposed Constitutional Amendment to replace the Illinois single rate with an uncontrolled multi-tiered system will have a major impact on our district and our state.  Likewise, the Governor’s proposed pension holiday and anticipated $3.4 billion dollar budget deficit will set the tone for our state’s future.  A recent legislative survey confirmed our district residents’ passion for these issues, and they deserve to have their voices heard early and often before we have to take any votes in Springfield,” said Mazzochi. “Please come out to this event, learn about what’s happening in Springfield, and ask us questions.”

The Income Tax and Budget Town Hall Meeting will take place on Saturday, May 4, at the Oak Brook Public Library, 10:30am-11:30am. Doors open at 10:00am.

Admission is FREE, families are welcome to join, and light refreshments will be served as well. No RSVP is required.  If you have any questions, please call either Rep. Mazzochi’s office at (630) 852-8633 or Rep. Grant’s office at (331) 218-4182.
