WHEATON – Illinois EPA Director John J. Kim has announced the Agency has scheduled household hazardous waste collections for the fall of 2019. Illinois EPA household hazardous waste collections provide residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unused or leftover household products commonly found in homes at no cost. Currently, five sites have been confirmed for the fall with an additional three locations being finalized.
“Pouring hazardous materials in the drain, flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash has a negative impact on the environment, especially the water supply. It is important for our community to market and promote these free events as much as possible because improperly disposing of hazardous waste is unsafe for the community,” said Grant.
In DuPage County, a one-day collection event is scheduled for this Saturday, October 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Village of Bensenville Public Works building, located at 717 East Jefferson in Bensenville.
