State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) wants to make sure restaurants and bars impacted by the COVID-19 resurgence mitigations know about a grant program offered through DuPage County. The $2.5 million in new grant funding, approved by the DuPage County Board this week, aims to help local bars and restaurants that were forced to close their doors to indoor dining and bar service last week due to increased COVID-19 positivity rates. This week’s $2.5 million influx of funds brings the county grant program from $1.5 million to $4 million.
“These new mitigations will decimate restaurants and bars that are already struggling,” said Grant. “I appreciate the county board’s willingness to lend a financial hand to help keep these businesses afloat.”
Through the county grant program, eligible businesses are eligible to receive up to $15,000 to help recoup lost revenue tied to the pandemic. The $2.5 million comes from federal CARES Act.
Applications for the grant funds are now available at www.choosedupage.com. To date, DuPage County has provided 1,256 small businesses and contractors with $15.2 million in relief through its grant program.
