State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) released the following statement after today’s vote on the House Rules:
“When Speaker Welch replaced Speaker Madigan he promised to usher in a new era of bipartisanship and democratic processes. After so long under the autocratic rule of Madigan in the people’s House, such promises offered much needed relief and hope. Unfortunately, these Rules indicate that House business will be conducted in much the same way it was previously.
If we here in Springfield are to restore trust, accountability, and hope in the minds of Illinoisans everywhere, there is a lot more that we need to do.”
