Rep. Grant Statement on Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund Debt

State Representative Amy Grant, R-Wheaton, issued the following statement after the passage of SB2803 regarding the unemployment insurance trust fund:

“Yet again, the Democratic supermajority in Springfield, encouraged by Governor Pritzker, has chosen to pass legislation that will result in a tax hike on jobs. Rather than using the American Rescue Plan Act funding we received from the federal government to pay off the $4.5 billion in unemployment insurance trust fund debt the pandemic left us with, Democrats have chosen the route of tax increases on jobs and cuts to unemployment benefits. There is a simple solution, but the consistently fiscally irresponsible supermajority has shown that they are either unable, or unwilling to fix this issue.”

Representative Grant serves the 42nd District.
