ILLINOIS – The Illinois State Library is once again presenting the Illinois Veterans History Project (IVHP), a heartfelt initiative dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served our great nation. 🎖️

In response to the Library of Congress’ call to collect the firsthand narratives of U.S. military veterans, the IVHP has been tirelessly working to create a permanent record of our veterans’ names and stories. Their mission is to ensure that the sacrifices and contributions of Illinois Veterans are never forgotten.
📚 Explore the Collections:
Discover over 6,700 records from Illinois veterans, spanning from the Civil War era to those currently serving on active duty. Dive into 675 captivating oral histories that offer a unique glimpse into their experiences.
🔍 Search the IVHP Collection:
Explore the IVHP collection by name, war, or hometown of veterans. Dive into the fascinating oral history and interviews that provide an intimate look into the lives of Illinois heroes.
👥 Who Can Participate?:
The IVHP welcomes participation from veterans, civilians, and their cherished family members. Share your own stories, photos, and mementos to contribute to this meaningful project here.

Participating is easy! Just complete the Illinois Patriot Information Form, available in a large-print version. Then, submit the form to the Illinois State Library via email (ilvhp@ilsos.gov) or mail it to the address below:
