Nominations Open for Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois

ILLINOIS – Landmarks Illinois is calling for nominations for its 2024 Most Endangered Historic Places List, an advocacy program highlighting at-risk historic and culturally significant sites in Illinois. This initiative brings much-needed attention to locations facing threats such as deterioration, demolition, or unsuitable development.

Sites on the Most Endangered list gain significant attention from the public, government, and media, which aids in preservation efforts. In fact, the designation can lead to legislative support for preservation.

How to Nominate:

Nominations can be submitted online here until January 12, 2024.

Anyone, including residents, community groups, and city officials, can nominate a site.

Nominated sites should be in dire need of preservation, highly valued by local communities, and embody local history & culture.
