As the winter chill sets in and we prepare to close out the year, it’s a time for reflection, gratitude, and community spirit. December is not just about the festive season; it’s a month where we can make a significant impact in the lives of those around us.
I encourage everyone to participate in local charitable activities this holiday season. If you are aware of any events or drives in our district, please let my office know so we can support and promote any notable community-led causes.
In this newsletter, you’ll find the standard updates my office likes to bring you each month: information on my legislative work, key details on issues impacting Illinois, and the community visits I’ve made across DuPage County.
Remember, my office is always here to serve you. If you have any questions, need assistance, or want to share your thoughts, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 331-218-4182.
Wishing you a warm and joyful December,
– Amy Grant | 47th District State Representative
Rep. Grant Launches ‘Illinois Family Priorities Assessment’
My Illinois Family Priorities Assessment is an initiative designed to understand and address the needs of families in Illinois. The assessment takes the form of an online survey and seeks to gather the diverse views and experiences of families across the region and focuses on key areas such as education, public safety, cost of living, senior care, and overall quality of life.
This assessment is a direct line for you to share what matters most. Your participation is vital because I plan to use the feedback collected when evaluating legislation and tailoring community initiatives hosted by my District Office throughout the upcoming year.

Breakfast with School Districts
I attended a highly productive Legislative Roundtable Breakfast this month, involving multiple school districts from our area.
The event was a platform school administrators and policymakers to discuss the multifaceted challenges faced by our students, families, teachers, and educational institutions.
I’d like to spotlight a few key facts I took from the program about our school districts:
? Naperville School District 203 – Known for its graduation rate of 96% and 4 Blue Ribbon awards.
? Indian Prairie School District 204 – Proudly stands as the fourth-largest school district in Illinois with an exceptional academic record.
? Community Unit School District 200 – Consistently aims for excellence, evidenced by their AP Honor Roll placement.
Our area has great students, parents, teachers, and staff that make our great schools so successful!
Illinois Lawmakers Fail to Act for Disadvantaged Students
The Invest in Kids scholarship program helped more than 9,500 low-income students attend the schools that best met their learning needs. Beneficiaries of the program from across the state told us first-hand that the scholarship has made a positive impact on their lives.
All year long we received visits to our offices in Springfield from countless students, parents, teachers, and school officials who urged us to extend the program because of its wild success. Despite this, Illinois lawmakers opted to let the program expire, leaving the 9,500 low income scholarship recipients – along with the countless students on waiting lists – out of luck.
