Lisle, IL – State Representative Amy Grant visited Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Lisle. UTI, a private learning institution, is known for its strong focus on automotive, diesel, and industrial machine training, and has had a campus in DuPage County since 1988. UTI has been located at their Lisle Campus for 10 years continuing to offer valuable training to prospective mechanics across Illinois and the Midwest.
During the tour, Rep. Grant saw firsthand how UTI prepares students for careers in automotive and diesel engine repair, robotics, and wind turbine maintenance. Grant said, “UTI’s commitment to connecting young adults with skilled job opportunities is impressive and their work is part of the solution to solving Illinois’ workforce struggles.”
Rep. Grant is excited about future collaborations with UTI as she plans to attend the institution’s Women in STEM event, hosted multiple times throughout the year to support high school girls interested in these fields. Additionally, Rep. Grant also looks forward to UTI’s First Robotics Competition set to take place in early 2024. “I am excited to support these events because they are vital for nurturing young talent and strengthening Illinois’ workforce.” added Grant.
State Representative Amy Grant, is currently in her 3rd term as State Representative for House District 47 where she serves on the following committees: Adoption & Child Welfare, Elementary & Secondary Education: Administration, Licensing. & Charter Schools; Foster Care Placement Subcommittee, Housing, Judiciary – Criminal, Juvenile Justice and System Involved Youth Subcommittee; and Mental Health & Addiction Committee. The 47th district is made up of several communities in DuPage County, including Naperville, Warrenville, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Lisle, Carol Stream, Bartlett, West Chicago, Winfield, and Wayne.
