This Month with Amy – August 2024

Summer isn’t over just yet, and I’m excited to share what’s happening in our community! We’ve got a Jobs Fair coming up where we will be connecting job seekers with local employers. My team of interns has been hard at work, surveying the community and collecting food pantry donations. I also have some good news for those of you who need help with professional licensure – a new professional licensure assistance form that will streamline your case.

Last month’s Mobile DMV event was a hit—thank you to everyone who came out! I’ve been busy attending events and meeting many of you across the district. Your input is always valued, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office.

Inflation Strikes Again!

BACK TO SCHOOL – Inflation is hitting Illinois families hard, and the state’s decision to skip the back-to-school sales tax holiday over the past two years has only added to the burden. In 2022, parents enjoyed a temporary tax break on school supplies, clothing, and footwear, but that relief is now gone. Meanwhile, other states like Iowa and Texas continue to offer these helpful tax breaks, easing the financial strain on families. With back-to-school spending expected to average nearly $875 per child in 2024, Illinois parents are left to shoulder these costs without any support. It’s time for Illinois to put working families and students first by giving this much needed tax relief during back to school time.

Rep. Grant’s Professional Licensure Assistance Form

ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) is reminding individuals with certain professional licenses currently up for renewal to start the renewal process before their license expires.

Several professions, such as accountants, physical therapists, psychologists and others have licenses that will expire on September 30, 2024.

My office can help with these applications. To get assistance from my team, please fill out this form on my website or call us at (331) 218-4182.

Rep. Grant’s Interns Strengthen Community Connections

DUPAGE COUNTY – My interns have been actively strengthening relationships in our community by going door-to-door and engaging directly with our neighbors. They’ve also been attending local ceremonies to further build connections with our community leaders. Additionally, some have even been giving back by volunteering at the local food pantry.

My interns are an extension of my representation. If you know of any interested in a possible internship with my office, please have them call Laura at 331-218-4182 or email at @grant@ilhousegop.org
