Rep. Amy Grant Highlights Stroke Awareness Month

ILLINOIS – In recognition of Stroke Awareness Month, State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) is reminding residents of the critical importance of knowing the signs of stroke and acting quickly to save lives.

“Every minute matters when it comes to stroke,” said Rep. Grant. “Quick action can make the difference between recovery and lasting damage—or even death.”

According to the American Stroke Association, stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the U.S. It occurs when a clot or rupture blocks blood flow to the brain, killing brain cells within minutes. Importantly, 1 in 4 stroke survivors is at risk for another, but up to 80% of second strokes are preventable.

Rep. Grant encourages constituents to learn the F.A.S.T. warning signs:
F – Face Drooping
A – Arm Weakness
S – Speech Difficulty
T – Time to Call 911

“Knowing the F.A.S.T. signs and acting immediately can save a life—maybe even your own,” Grant added. “Let’s work together to raise awareness and keep our communities safe.”
