Rep. Grant Recognizes January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month

JANUARY – State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) is recognizing January 2025 as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Illinois residents are encouraged to learn the signs of human trafficking and join the fight against this growing crisis.

“Human trafficking is a growing crisis that impacts communities across Illinois and the nation,” said Grant. “By learning the signs of human trafficking, we can prevent exploitation, protect victims, and hold traffickers accountable. Every effort counts in this fight for justice and human dignity.”

National Human Trafficking Prevention Month serves to educate the public, promote survivor resources, and enhance prevention strategies statewide. Representative Grant remains committed to supporting legislation and initiatives that provide protection and services to trafficking survivors and law enforcement agencies working to eliminate it from our communities..

Some signs of Human Trafficking include: signs of physical abuse such as bruises, cuts, burns, or scarring; poor physical or dental health, untreated injuries or illnesses; showing signs of fear, submissiveness, tension, or paranoia; and having few personal possessions. If you suspect human trafficking, it’s recommended to report your concerns to local law enforcement or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888. Any immediate danger should be reported by calling 911.
